What styles of yoga do I teach? My yoga is Hatha based which is a mix of Asanas (postures) where you learn to move with the breath, somatic warm ups which are gentle ways to open up held tensions and fatigue, mediation, relaxation and pranayama (breathwork).
I also teach Gentle years chair based yoga which includes strengthening, pulse raising, relaxation, breathing techniques using specific props. This is a fun social class to engage with others. Yoga can be accessible to everyone by modifying tools used in general yoga classes.
My mat based classes vary week focusing on how you feel within your own body to enable movement. I also include some mindfulness meditation when I can and relaxation at end of each class.
Do I need to have practised yoga before to attend a class? No all my students have come from either complete beginners or more intermediate yoga. I offer modifications for all abilities and use lots of props, to enable you to feel comfortable. This enables students to feel more comfortable in their own ability as yoga is non-competitive and everyone works to their own limitations.
What do you need to bring for a class? You will need a yoga mat, warm layers including a light blanket for relaxation. Due to covid restrictions I cannot currently provide blocks and belts or equipment for modifications, please bring your own or I can suggest alternative options.. A sense of fun as I want you to feel able to enjoy the experience and not feel judged.
classes are taught face to face and online so if online please ensure when coming to a class that I can see you when standing, sitting or lying down. Also make sure you have space around you to move safely. If you are new to a class please get in touch before attending so I can answer any questions and make sure you are able to practice safely.
